Australian Precision Technologies (APT) are innovative mature defence suppliers in Berwick.

The Business

Established in Dandenong 30 years ago, founders and husband-and-wife team - Richy and Nicola Weinzierl have left an indelible mark in advanced manufacturing.

APT is widely renowned for implementing quality practices and innovative manufacturing.

Casey Business Awards

Remarkably, winning the Casey Business of the Year Award in 2021 was a great surprise to APT as they were unaware of their industry influence at the time.

Since the awards, APT’s reputation has grown into a mature defence supplier and a training ground for advanced manufacturing.

Richy said the awards exposed them to a host of unexpected benefits. One benefit is how it brought APT’s community and commercial opportunities into sharp focus.

“It opened our eyes to what the business had achieved. As well as giving us commercial exposure, new community connections, more project opportunities, and an edge to our brand,” he said. One of the great benefits of the awards was how they strengthened their defence relations.

“The defence community is socially aware, and the government wants to know your success and achievements. Winning the Casey Business of the Year Award in 2021 helped us strengthen our reputation with them as a preferred supplier,” he said.

The Casey Effect

Richy explained the awards also boosted their community connections.

“It exposed us to new and valuable community connections. As a result, we are never short of employees when we advertise. Eighty per cent of our employees live in Casey. We now also partner with Casey tech, Federation University and Chisholm. Where we support student pathways to employment.

“Our involvement in the awards was a valuable experience that offered a unique opportunity to collaborate with the City of Casey and receive recognition for our hard work, said Richy."

APT continues to go from strength to strength in Casey. Their aim for the future is to continue capitalising on their manufacturing and engineering programming expansion.
