Daniel Muir, Amstel Club

Daniel Muir’s dedication to Amstel Club has seen its growth as a business innovator and leader in best practice, moving through the pandemic to achieve the club’s goal of becoming the number one hospitality venue in Cranbourne.

Despite being an incredibly tumultuous period for hospitality venues as staff turnover rocketed across the industry, under Daniel’s leadership, the club was able to retain all of its staff and further, worked to improve its diversity among staff – now they Club’s roster boasts a 50:50 male to female ratio, and staff who range in age from 16 to 74 years old and are from more than 20 cultural backgrounds.

He recognises the value in his staff and the knowledge they individually bring to the workplace, giving them endless opportunities to contribute to the direction of the Club itself.

He also shares this knowledge more broadly and regularly invites managers of other local hospitality businesses into Amstel Club to offer opportunities for them to take best practice principles back to their own venues.

And his support for locals doesn’t end with the business community. Daniel has opened up the Club’s function spaces for free to local community organisations and sponsors other local not-for-profit organisations.

For his commitment, Daniel was recently appointed to the Board of advocacy group Community Clubs of Victoria and was recognised by them as the Victorian Club Manager of the Year for 2021-2022.
