Dr Mathy Mathiyalagan, A Better Dental Care

Dr Mathy Mathiyalagan established A Better Dental Care in 2005, since then, his stewardship has guided the practice through the uncertainty of the pandemic into a truly agile state, ensuring its continued success.

By their own recognition, rapidly changing times during the pandemic led them to make adjustment to the practice to ensure it continued to be accessible, inclusive and representative of the diverse community in which they operate.

Among these adjustments were many which helped to support staff directly; such as amending operating hours to cater to fluctuating workloads or staff sicknesses, undertaking work from home where appropriate, utilising downtime for skills practice or online learning and undertaking essential work during working hours.

In additional measures to support staff, they hired dental hygienists to support dentists at each appointment, employed temporary staff where available and held regular team huddles to ensure staff to ensure staff are equally sharing their workload and coping with current arrangements.

And it seems that these amendments are helping to grow the business, as they continue to meet and exceed their goals, including increases in patient numbers, recall rates and productivity.
