Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park: Casey Business Awards 2026 - Best Eco-Friendly Business Finalist

Nestled in Pearcedale, Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park has been creating unforgettable wildlife experiences for visitors since 2001. Home to more than 70 species of Australian native animals, the sanctuary combines tourism, education and conservation, offering guests the opportunity to connect with iconic wildlife while directly supporting programs that protect Australia’s unique biodiversity. 

Moonlit Sanctuary has made a remarkable contribution to wildlife conservation across the city. Through breeding and recovery programs for threatened species including the Orange-bellied Parrot, Swift Parrot, Pookila (New Holland Mouse) and Eastern Dwarf Galaxias, the organisation is helping to strengthen wild populations and safeguard species for future generations. They successfully partnered with Cranbourne Royal Botanic Gardens, where the sanctuary has released 87 Pookilas, leading to the sighting of more than 125 wild-born offspring.  

As a finalist in the Best Eco-Friendly Business category, Moonlit Sanctuary demonstrates that sustainability is embedded in every aspect of its operations. The sanctuary generates around 50 per cent of its electricity requirements through onsite solar infrastructure, operates an advanced wastewater treatment and reuse system, and prioritises sustainable procurement practices, including supporting local suppliers wherever possible. The business also works with Carbonhalo through the Business Climate Action Program to measure and reduce its emissions and continuously improve its environmental performance.  

Beyond its environmental initiatives, Moonlit Sanctuary has a strong focus on community education and engagement. More than 10,400 students participate in its education programs each year, while visitors are encouraged to become active participants in conservation through keeper talks, educational displays, habitat restoration projects and the Koala Corridor initiative.
